On August 23, Mrs. Lisa Hendrix, Director of Facilities, provided the Board of Trustees an update on facility projects and upgrades done at school sites during the summer.
BEAUMONT HIGH SCHOOL EXPANSION
The District's expansion of Beaumont High School continues to move forward.
Slide 2: On the second slide of the presentation, on the left, you see the architect’s rendering of the entryway into the new administration office. Building L will provide a new single point of entry for site visitors, a new registration office, counseling offices, a conference room, and 19 additional classrooms. Utility connections have been made, stairways have been installed, and concrete is being poured around the building.

Slide 3: These two renderings show building M, which will include a new PE equipment distribution area, restrooms, and a 10-unit storage building. On the parking lot side of the building, seating and shade will be provided for students in the safe drop-off/pick-up zone. Construction continues to move forward; most of the roll-down doors have been installed and are operable, and tile is being installed in the restroom buildings. The shaded benches for students waiting to be picked up were ready for use when school started.

Slide 4: Building N has student restrooms and a lunch shelter. Steel columns have been installed, welded, and filled with grout allowing the canopy infrastructure to begin.

Slide 5: For the new entrance canopy, columns have been set, welded, and filled with grout. They are for the canopy to be fabricated.

Slide 6: The baseball field is almost complete. The sod was recently installed and will need to be protected for the next few months to ensure it is fully established. The landscape and fencing along the parking lot were finished prior to the start of school. The project included the addition of several more Deodar trees, which will provide added shade for years to come.
Slide 7: In Building I, the temporary windows were replaced with NanaWall expandable doors allowing students to use the collaboration spaces while still being monitored by the teaching staff. The temporary panels along the stairwells and balconies were replaced with permanent panels, and the traffic coating was applied to the flooring on the 2nd-floor balcony.
SUMMER MAINTENANCE PROJECTS
A big shout out to our Maintenance and Operations team for making school sites look great! Here are some of the major accomplishments that happened over the summer.
Slide 9: New Artificial turf was installed in the athletic complex with a new track surface on schedule to be installed over the winter break. The grounds team has been repairing and aerating fields around the District to remove squirrel and gopher holes.
Slide 10: Palm Innovation Academy has seen some major changes this year. In Palm south, the flooring in the cafeteria and classroom corridor was replaced; site custodians repainted the boys' bathroom. Deteriorated blinds in classrooms throughout the campus were replaced with interior window tint and exterior window wraps. The maintenance team relocated the fencing around the kindergarten area to create cohesion between the preschool, TK, and kindergarten classes. A variety of outdoor play toys were purchased to accommodate the additional students anticipated in those grade levels.
Slide 11: New playground surfaces were installed at Anna Hause and Sundance Elementary Schools.
Slide 12: Cubicles were installed in the collaboration areas of the 300 and 400 buildings at Starlight Elementary School to provide dedicated spaces for learning intervention.
Slide 13: The wooden slats for the outdoor seating at Beaumont Adult School were replaced over the summer.
Slide 14: New roofing was installed on the side buildings at Sundance and Three Rings Ranch Elementary Schools.
